Katherine Waters is the Extension Food Systems Program leader for the University of Minnesota College of Food, Agriculture, and Natural Resource Sciences. In this capacity she directs the Food Safety and Agricultural Health and Safety programs and serves as the veterinary and food science consultant for the Extension Disaster Education Network. Dr. Waters also works with the National Center for Food Protection and Defense, a multidisciplinary and multi-institutional research consortium, as a member of their risk communication team. Prior to joining Extension Katherine was an assistant professor of veterinary public health practice in the UMN College of Veterinary Medicine. She has a DVM degree from Colorado State University, an MPH from the University of Minnesota and specialty board certification in veterinary preventive medicine.
